Blue Skies & Planning Ahead

Do you remember what blue skies look like? We are so grateful to skate at Jones Point Park as we can skate rain or shine although it would be nice if the rain stopped some time soon!

This coming Saturday, we are having our next Group Lesson in the Power Skating Session where we are breaking down the Forward Push and focusing on the Set Down and Push phases.

It’s never too early to plan ahead for skating fun! Here are some fun programs that we have scheduled so you can block off the time your calendar:

August 4 – Beginner Group Lesson Session starts
Join us for our most popular Group Lesson Session where we teach you the skills to safely and efficiently skate forward, stop and turn. Join us for 1 Group Lesson at a time for $25 or save some money and purchase a package (to mix & match lessons) or register for all 4 Group Lessons in this session at once for $85. The next Beginner Group lesson Session starts on September 15th.

August 11

– 8:45 AM: Bladefitness
You won’t want to miss this group fitness class developed by Rollerblade® and Reebok® University and inspired by training methods used by inline skating and fitness professionals around the world. We will be offering this new class once per month. The next Bladefitness class is on September 8th.

– 10:00 AM: FREE Learn to Inline Skate Clinic
You will learn the basics of inline skating including the proper use of your protective gear, how to get moving and how to use that heel brake to stop. Supervised practice time is built in. This program is perfect for those who have never tried inline skating or for those that would like to get back to the basics. Take a test drive in Rollerblade brand skates and protective gear. You read correctly, this lesson is completely FREE! The next FREE Learn to Inline Skate Clinic is on September 8th.

– 10:00 AM: Advanced Backward 2 (AB2)
In this Group Lesson we are focusing on different transitions from forward to backward and backward to forward skating. Already knowing how to skate backward is helpful.

August 18 – Advanced Forward Session starts
Take your skating to the next level! In this session of Group Lessons we introduce new skills such as Slalom Turns, Lunge Turns, Forward Crossovers, Heel Stop II, Stride III & Lunge Stop. Again, register for 1 Group Lesson at a time for $25 or save some money and purchase a package (to mix & match lessons) or register for all 4 Group Lessons in this session at once for $85.

September 2 – Fitness Inline Training (FIT) Program starts
Train with a team to skate the 26.2 miles of the Skater’s Quest Trail Marathon. Practices are on Sunday mornings in the DC Metro Area to include Hains Point, the W&OD Trail & Indian Head Trail.

October 20 – Skater’s Quest Trail Marathon
We are excited to present the 3rd Annual Skater’s Quest Trail Marathon. If you have never participated in a 26-mile event, this is the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, have fun and raise money for DC Inner City Excellence (DC-ICE).
