– Do I need to pre-register for the FREE Learn to Skate Clinic?
Yes, so that we can ensure that we have enough instructors available to teach all of our inline skating lessons, we ask that you register online.

– If I do not own my own protective gear, do I have to buy it before coming to class?
No, if you do not own protective gear, or skates for that matter, we have it all available for you.  Because we believe in your safety, protective gear is available for you to borrow during your inline skating lesson.  Rollerblade brand inline skates are available at no additional cost.  To ensure that we have your size, please indicate your shoe size when you register for your lessons.

– When I register for a Group Lesson Session, can I take lessons at different locations, if applicable?
When you register for a Group Lesson Session, you are registering for 4 Group Lessons on a specific day and time and at one location.  We understand that everyone’s schedule gets busy.  If you are unable to attend all 4 of the Group Lessons in a Session, please let us know so that we can work with you to schedule a make-up Group Lesson in another Session based on space available – regardless of location.  Advance notice is required to schedule a make-up Group Lesson.  Students are entitled to one make-up Group Lesson per Session.

– If it looks like it’s going to rain, how do I know if my lesson has been canceled?
If the weather doesn’t look like it is going to cooperate for our programs, we will indicate cancellations by changing the message on our voice mail at 571-969-SK8N and by sending a message via Twitter (so turn on mobile notifications while you are enrolled in lessons).  In case of inclement weather lessons changes, we will update the voice mail as soon as possible with the goal of 90 minutes prior to the lesson start time or as soon as the rain begins.

Each Group Lesson Session has an additional day scheduled in case a back-up date is required.

– I am really interested in taking a Group Lesson but my schedule doesn’t allow me to attend a scheduled program.  Can you help?
Absolutely, we can help!  If you are unable to attend our regularly scheduled Group Lessons, request a private lesson.  We do our best to schedule private lessons at a location and time convenient for you and your instructor.

– I want to register for a Group Lesson Session but know that I’ll miss one of the dates, can I make-up the Group Lesson?
We understand that everyone’s schedule gets busy.  It is best that you register for the Group Lesson Session that best meets your schedule for the four weeks of the Session.  If you are unable to attend all 4 of the Group Lessons in a Session, please let us know so that we can work with you to schedule a make-up Group Lesson in another Session.  Advance notice is required to schedule a make-up Group Lesson.  Students are entitled to one make-up Group Lesson per Session.

– Do I have to take Group Lessons in consecutive order?
Our Group Lesson Sessions follow a built-in well designed progression.  If your preference is to register for one Group Lesson at a time, it is recommended that you take the lessons in progression order.  We understand that your schedule may not mesh with our Group Lesson Calendar especially during prime summer vacation time.  With that in mind, our Group Lesson Progressions have been developed to be as flexible as possible and our instructors are highly trained to ensure that all participants are challenged.  Of course, we don’t recommend that you take a Transitions Group Lesson (AB2) unless you know how to skate backwards (AB1).

– I really want to participate in the Skater’s Quest Fitness Inline Training (FIT) Program but know that I’ll miss some training sessions. Should I still register?

Definitely! While we recommend that you attend as many practice sessions as possible, we will provide you with a detailed training plan so that you can maintain your training on your own and still exceed your personal goal(s)!

– How can I maximize my lesson benefits?
Here are a few tips for getting the most from your lessons with Skaters Quest:

  • Fuel and Lubrication — The body and mind need fuel to operate effectively especially when learning. Eat something healthy before your lesson. Water helps lubricate joints and connective tissue so hydrate before, during and after each lesson.
  • Time — Arrive early to sign a waiver, gear up, warm up and practice skills from the previous lesson since we’ll be building upon those in this lesson.
  • Watch — The instructor will demonstrate each new skill. Watch closely since this is the goal at which all exercises are aimed. Also watch fellow students execute the drills so you can emulate the great things they do as well as recognize ineffective movement patterns and remove them from your skating.
  • Participate — Give your best effort to each exercise no matter how simple or complex it seems. We use progressions that build to the goal so each exercise has an important purpose.
  • Ask — If you have a question chances are someone else has the same question. Everyone learns when you ask questions and it also deepens your understanding.
  • Review — Each Certified Instructor will review the 3 key steps used to build skills. If it’s unclear ask for clarification. If you have difficulty remembering them, take a moment to write them down after the lesson and use the notes as you practice.
  • Practice — Especially helpful if done within 24 hours of the lesson as it’s easier to remember the exercises and movement patterns. Several short practice sessions during the week will be more helpful than one long session.
  • Return — We like to see your progress and we’ll build on each lesson as we add new more advanced skills. So come back and see us.
  • Feedback –Give us feedback either in person or via email so we know what we can improve and what was helpful.
