August is National Wellness Month

Participants at the Skate of the Union Rollerblade 10K Challenge on June 22nd.
August is National Wellness Month
Research shows self-care helps manage stress and promote happiness. Whether you challenge yourself to learn a new skating skill or to drink more water, making small changes will impact your health in positive ways. At Skater’s Quest, we can help and invite you to join a group lesson, attend a skating practice and even challenge yourself to train for an event.

PRACTICES
Join us each week for our regularly scheduled practices to improve your skating skills, build your strength and focus on your endurance. Note these are in various locations in the DMV.

Marathon Masters Practice (MMP): Scheduled weekly year round
Each MMP includes dryland strength and technique-building drills, on-skate drills and challenging aerobic sets. These are adult-oriented programs. Participation by motivated and mature youth skaters will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Helmets and wrist protection must be worn by all participants. You should be able to stop proficiently. You do not need to be an expert skater to participate, but participation will help you to become one!  NOTE: These are scheduled each week by Coach Greg.  If you’d like to be added to his distribution list, please respond to this email and let us know.

Fitness Inline Training (FIT) Program: Sundays at 9:00 AM until September 24th
The mission of the Skater’s Quest Fitness Inline Training (FIT) Program is to equip inline skating enthusiasts with specific skills and exercises to meet their health and fitness goals whether it be to cross the finish line after participating in a skating event, lose weight, get in shape or simply improve inline skating skills.  The main focus is endurance training and has been developed for you to train for the 10k, Half Marathon or Full Marathon distances at the SkateDC 2023 Marathon on September 30th.
