  • Sunday, 9/17 – FIT Plyometrics & Initial FitQuest Testing @ ArCTIC 2:00 PM
Plyometrics are ideal for athletes or people looking to improve muscular power, speed and strength. They also help facilitate weight loss and help tone and define your muscles.  Wear athletic shoes to this practice and be prepared to sweat!  We will also take an initial FitQuest test to measure improved fitness with the Fall FIT Program.  Learn more about FitQuest here:
  • Saturday, 9/23 FIT Stretch
Stretching is so important to your physical and mental well-being to help improve your flexibility, potentially decrease injury by preparing your muscles for work; increasing blood and nutrient supply to the muscles and help calm the mind and give yourself a mental break. The FIT Stretch Practice focuses on stretches that benefit any athlete. Bring a towel or mat to this practice.
  • Sunday, 9/24 – FIT Endurance
At each FIT Endurance practice, the focus is quality mileage to train your body to skate continuously to complete 26-miles.
  • Thursday, 9/28 – FIT Intervals
Research shows that interval training—workouts in which you alternate periods of high-intensity exercise with low-intensity recovery periods—increases fitness and burns more calories over a short period of time than steady-state cardio.
  • Saturday, 9/30 – Skate Maintenance
Learn how to maintain your skates and protective equipment properly for longevity.  Sample topics covered include how to rotate your wheels and keep your bearings rolling smoothly.    Bring your skates and skate tools with you and be prepared to work on your own skates.
  • Sunday, 10/1 – FIT Endurance
  • Saturday, 10/7 – FIT Pacelines
A paceline is a group of skaters who trade off the lead to share the effort of skating in front so that the other skaters can rest in the draft that is created.  Participation in a paceline will undoubtedly save you energy, efficiency and speed and, sometimes, even your sanity in a long race. We will work on efficient skating & effective speed control for distance skating in a paceline.
